Yes, I dare to share this with you. We have all at one point in time or the other, embarked on some diet regime to shed a few kilos, get rid of the bulge or just fit better into that dress for that special occasion.
You probably don't need any diet and nutrition certification when it comes to advising friends and family on how to lose weight. We are all authorities to reckon with. All you need to do is share your last experience and how many kilos you lose in the last 10 days. But what happens when you go back to your former eating habit?
I have been on the diet treadmill all my life-literally. I am tired of going on a diet for a couple of weeks, losing some weight, satisfied with noble achievement, get all the right compliments, get tired of dieting and going back to my former habits. The next I see is all the weights come back on and I have even gain more weight than before the diet.
The above scenario is known as yo-yo dieting. Yo-yo dieting will only mess up your metabolism. I have decided to get off the thread mill- the diet treadmill, forever and imbibe the permanent weight loss option, which is eating well. Yes eating right.
Eating well is a choice. Eating well is a lifestyle. Eating well is not yo-yo dieting. Eating well is not meant to be seen as starvation. Eating well is not deprivation. Eating well lead to permanent weight loss. It is important to consume a well balanced diet that includes recommended daily portions of fruits, vegetables, nuts, grains, proteins, carbohydrates and lipids.
It is interesting how we never put the wrong fuel in our cars; but we don't even think about it when we put the wrong fuel in our bodies. Yes food is fuel for the body. The next time you decide to feed your body, please make sure it's the right fuel- full of goodness that would energize you.
When we eat right, our immune system is fortified by all the nutrients invested from good food. We therefore remain healthy. The quality of our life is improved.
The good news is that, we can eat well 80% of the time, and 20% for those special celebration cakes, so you don't feel deprived.
