Losing Fat Is A Simple Thing

There are hundreds, thousands, maybe millions of diets out there! So it can be confusing to determine what is the BEST way to shift extra body fat. I can tell you this - there is ONE way to lose fat, and it's the same for everyone.

We all have the same body and our bodies all use the same processes - they can store fat and they can release fat to be burnt as fuel. In order to LOSE fat, you just have to switch OFF your 'store fat' mode and switch ON your 'release fat' mode!

Luckily, if you switch one of them off, the other automatically kicks in - there's no in between status. So let's talk about how to close down your body's fat storing habits. Here we go:

Why And How You Store Fat

When you eat, the nutrients from your food pass into your bloodstream. The nutrient that affects your fat storage is carbohydrate or as I'll now refer to it, sugar (because whatever form your carbs were in when you ate them your body WILL break them down into their basic form - which is sugar).

Ingested sugar passes into your blood and your blood sugar level rises. I'm sure most of us have heard the term blood sugar, and for most of us we've heard this in relation to diabetes. In the same conversations, it's likely you also heard mention of the hormone INSULIN.

When you blood sugar level gets too HIGH, your body releases Insulin. This clears the sugar from the blood but where does it go? That's right - it's stored in your fat cells, as fat. This happens very quickly! So if you've just eaten a meal with more carbs/sugar than you body can deal with, you've pretty much instantly made yourself a little bit fatter!

But it doesn't stop there - Insulin clears ALL the sugar from your blood, leaving you with LOW blood sugar levels. How does that feel? Your body will want to restore normal levels as soon as possible and you start to crave the thing that will do this the quickest.... SUGAR! And so the cycle repeats itself.

How To Stop Blood Sugar Spikes And Start To Lose Fat Instead...

To break the blood sugar/fat gain cycle, you should restrict the amount of sugar (carbs) you eat in one sitting. Please note! You MUST eat SOME carbs... you need them for energy to get through your day and to stop your blood sugar levels from getting low. Cutting them out completely will not work!

For the average grown up, a good ballpark figure is to try to have around 25 to 30 grams of carbohydrate in one sitting. That's about 5 teaspoons of sugar, or roughly 2 slices of bread. You can easily find out how many carbs are in your food by checking out the nutritional information on the packet, or simply searching online.
