Consistency Is The Secret To Staying Slim

It is sad that fad diets and "crash" diets are such popular ways to quickly drop weight. Such drastic dieting does work - in the short term. Sooner or later, the pounds will rebound back on and your body will go back to the weight at which it is most comfortable.

All the time, I see people struggle on an extreme diet one week and then gorge on junk food the next week. Neither is healthy for your body, as one week your body is starving and the next it has to work over time to deal with an over load of processed, fatty food.

When you were in your teens, you may not have noticed the harsh effects of extreme dieting on your body. But, yo-yo dieting eventually catches up with you. Paradoxically, such extreme swings in eating might actually make you more likely to gain more weight. With the passing years, the pounds silently creep onto your body and become harder and harder to shed.

Compare this to people who don't struggle with their weight. Seemingly, they are never on a diet and they don't struggle with their weight. Is the Universe just cruel and unfair? Were such people let in on some exclusive secret at birth? Do they have some kind of divine diet inspiration?

Quite simply, these people never waged war against their bodies. They didn't subject their bodies to "crash" diets, that only leave people feeling emotionally deprived and physically starved. Their metabolisms are not wreaked, their energy has been consistently high through out their lives and their emotions haven't been thrown out of wack by dramatic dietary changes. Hence, they have maintained a stable, healthy body weight.

It is within your reach to have this, too. A healthy body weight is not determined genetics. A healthy body weight has everything to do with having a healthy relationship with food. A healthy diet is one of moderation for junk and plenty of wholesome foods.

Food is meant to nourish you and keep you healthy, strong and invigorated. It is the essence of diet inspiration. Food is not meant to be abused or to be a substitute for stress, anger, anxiety or depression. There are not enough chocolate chip cookies on the planet to fill a void in your life.

When you consistently eat healthy, wholesome foods, day-in-day-out, your body will respond in kind. For some adults, this might be the first time that their bodies have been properly nourished in their entire lives. Your body will thank you for it. Sugar cravings will disappear and headaches and constipation will vanish.

When you eat properly and adequately, your health will naturally improve. Your energy will increase, your confidence will rise, your organs will function better and your sleep will improve. Where you once craved potato chips, you will start to desire a fresh orange or crisp and crunchy carrots. Make gradual changes and be consistent. A month from now, your outlook on life, food, and your body will be much improved.
