One question that I get asked all the time is "how can I get rid of my belly fat?" Usually they have tried lot of program, fitness machines, and fad diets. You usually hear stuff like, "I did 100 sit-ups a day for a week, and my belly didn't get any smaller."
Stop Doing Crunches - Crunches have one effect. They increase the strength and size of your abdominal muscles. But they do not reduce the amount of fat covering your stomach muscles. You can't reduce a certain area of fat on your body - You just can't do it. Crunches also can cause lower back pain, slouched shoulders, and a posture where your head leans forward.
Eat Healthy - There is a saying that says "Abs are built in the kitchen." Training your abs as hard as you can everyday, is good, but isn't going to get you to the point of achieving your goals unless you couple that with a healthy diet. You should discontinue eating foods that are processed. Instead you should move toward eating whole, raw, or unprocessed foods. Stick to eating fruits, vegetables, proteins, carbs and fats. For protein you should stick to poultry, fish, whey, eggs, meat, or cottage cheese. For vegetables, you could eat spinach, sale, broccoli, and asparagus. For fruits, I would eat bananas, apples, pineapples, and cantaloupe. You can get your daily serving of fats from things like fish oil, natural butter, nuts, seeds, and olive oil. You can also get your carbohydrates from source like brown rice, oats, pasta, and others. You don't need to have a perfect diet, butting cutting junk food from your diet can be very instrumental to getting rid of your belly fat.
Stop Drinking Alcohol - This will be a huge help if you are looking for a way to boost the fat burning of your belly area. Alcohol is OK to have in small amounts from time to time. But drinking beer, and sweet alcoholic drinks regularly can add on pounds to your midsection. If you haven't noticed, alcoholics, or regular beer drinkers tend to gravitate toward being shaped like a pear. The male alcoholics tend to develop belly fat as well as man boobs. This gets worse with age. If you only drink alcohol once ever week, and don't binge drink, this will help you move toward achieving your goals of reducing your amount of belly fat.
Eat More Fat - This might seem counterintuitive, but it's really not. Fat isn't what makes you fat in the first place. A poor nutrition and lack of exercise is what makes you fat. Eating fat will help your fat loss. Fish oils are a great source of healthy fat. This is because it increases your testosterone levels, and thus increases fat loss. But you should try to avoid trans fats which are usually in food products like margarine. These are very bad for your health.
